I hope you enjoyed some time to relax, recharge and spent time with your family in the past weeks.
As our children enter into a new school year, here is a mother’s message I thought was worth sharing. Her name is Glennon Doyle Melton. She calls it “The Talk” and she shares it with each of her children at the start of every school year. She says: “My approach changes but the story doesn’t. The story is always about Adam.”
“Tomorrow is a big day. Third Grade — wow. When I was in third grade, there was a boy in my class named Adam. Adam looked a little different. He hung his head low and he never looked at anyone. The other kids teased Adam a lot. Whenever they did, his head hung lower. I never teased him, but I never told the other kids to stop, either.

Sometimes you will feel compassion but you won’t step in right away. That’s okay, too. You can choose to tell your teacher or us. Asking for help for someone who is hurting is not tattling, it is doing the right thing. If someone in your class needs help, please tell us. We will make a plan to help together. We send you to school to practice being brave and kind.
Kind people are brave people. Brave is not a feeling that you should wait for. It is a decision. It is a decision that compassion is more important than fear, than fitting in, than following the crowd.
Take care of those classmates of yours, and your teacher, too. You are one lucky boy… with all of these new gifts to unwrap this year. Enjoy and cherish your gifts and thank you for being my favourite gift of all time. I love you very much.”
Welcome back to Kip McGrath and have a great year everyone!

How to work out if it’s a leap year?
If the year is divisible by four (e.g. 2016,2020,2024…) then it’s a leap year.

Improvement in Maths
“Aden’s improvement is due to the extra help he has received. He is participating in class, which is something he didn’t do previously, as he just didn’t understand what was being explained. He now answers questions and helps fellow students. His confidence has improved immensely and I can’t thank you enough.”
