Holidays at Kip
Tutoring at Kip McGrath continues as normal over school holiday periods, with the same time and same teacher as during the term. Everyone gets a break from tutoring for 4 weeks over the Christmas holidays, the 4-day Easter Break and Public Holidays. If your child’s lesson falls on a Public Holiday, this lesson doesn’t happen and as a result, no charge will be taken for it. If you would like a lesson on another day in that week, you are very welcome to contact us and we will organise another time.

We introduced continuing normal lessons during holidays when COVID lockdown happened last year. Most children were okay with spending just one hour a week during their holidays and a lot of our parents thought it was a good idea. We believe by keeping continuity of lessons over the short holiday breaks, students will retain their learning, reach their goals faster, and graduate from Kip McGrath earlier.
All students who have enrolled since the beginning of 2020 are expected to attend their normal session time each week for the time period they agreed to on their enrolment Terms and Conditions.
For those students who have been enrolled with us since before this time, we would highly recommend continuing normal lessons during short holiday breaks between school terms.
However, we always offer alternatives if special circumstances arise where students cannot attend normal lessons. If this is the case makeup lessons can be arranged. If another time isn’t possible, lessons can be organised to be done without a teacher.

Coping with Anxiety
Anxiety is the major mental health issue of modern society, with one in four people estimated to suffer from it. Anxiety can also co-exist with mental health conditions like depression, adjustment disorder, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder.
Anxiety symptoms may be managed by following these steps. The first step is to work out both the nature of your symptoms and the possible cause.
Once that is done, you can target the symptoms, for example, by practicing relaxation techniques to wave off negative thoughts. Anxious thoughts are one of the most common causes of anxiety, and one good tip is to learn Cognitive Behavior Therapy, which involves challenging negative thoughts not just with positivity but with logic and reason.
Mindfulness, breathing exercises, relaxation, and meditation can also be used to manage bodily symptoms of anxiety such as heart racing, shallow breathing, nausea, dry mouth, and muscle cramps.
