Welcome Back

With another school year beginning, hopefully students head back to school with fresh enthusiasm, feeling excited about the New Year ahead. Unfortunately, this is not the case for many of them.

Why is that? In my opinion the main reason is how children learn at school. I feel most of the current school systems focus on trying to turn children into round pegs so they will
fit into round holes.

Here at Kip McGrath Hunter we believe Education should support every child’ s learning to be the right shape for them: whether the child is like a triangle with some sharp points, or a heart shape with soft curves or some shape we haven’ t even thought of yet.

If they are taught what they need to learn, when they need to learn it, in a way they can understand and remember it, this boosts their self-confidence and this is the best way to learn. The current school systems struggle to achieve this for many students.

Tutoring can achieve this for every student because of the individual programs we design for them and the way we closely monitor their progress and make changes to keep the pace of learning just right for each one of them. I wish you all a great year ahead.

February Fun Facts

It is the shortest month and the only month with fewer than 30 days.

It has 28 days in common years or 29 days in leap years

Having only 28 days in common years, did you know it is the only month of the year that can pass without a single full moon? This is called a ‘Black Moon’ .

If there is no full moon in February then January and March will have two full moons. The second moon of the month is called a ‘Blue Moon’ .

Have you ever heard the saying when something doesn’ t happen often, we say: ‘It only happens once in a blue moon’ .

Award for Outstanding Improvements in Reading

Myles looks forward to going to tutoring. I am extremely proud of how much he has progressed with his sounding out and reading of words. He now completes more than what is required of him because he finds it easier and more enjoyable.
