Here is something that will help your child with their Reading and Comprehension…
There are many keys to learning to read, but one of the major skills we have found is to learn Phonemics.
In this short video I shall explain what Phonemes are and how you can use them to help your child.
Once your child has an understanding of them you will be amazed how their reading abilities will move ahead in leaps and bounds.
There is no better skill to learn in life than being able to read.
This might sound like a bold statement, however we have seen first hand how Kids who struggle with reading are disadvantaged at school and in life. If it is not mastered your child will fall behind in all their subjects. Even maths requires your child to be able to read and understand what the question is asking.
Being a poor reader can have a devastating effect on your child’s confidence and can cause them to become disruptive in class and at home.
Problem is, reading and comprehension take time and practice to master. It can take time for schools to let you know your child is struggling. Even when teachers identify there is a problem, they often don’t have the time it takes to help children catch up fully.
Unfortunately children are often embarrassed about this, so at our centres all students are treated with respect and understanding. A positive learning environment makes achievement natural and fun.
With the right help your child can learn to read in half the normal time. Their confidence soars, all of their subjects improve and they enjoy learning again.
So take every opportunity to get involved in their homework, spend time every night reading to your child, and encourage them to read about things they enjoy.
